    • was the most senior woman in the Russian government

    • In 2001, she was appointed deputy governor for social issues in Taimyr (Dolgano-Nenets) Autonomous Area
    • from July 2008 to December 2010 she was the president of the all-Russian inter-industry association of employers and also board chair at the Soglasiye Insurance Company
    • from 3 December 2010 to 21 May 2012 she served as the deputy mayor of Moscow for education and healthcare

    • Medinsky has been described as a "nationalist enamored of classicism and traditional values.
    • Vladimir Medinsky supports the removal of Vladimir Lenin's body from the Lenin's Mausoleum to bury it.
    • Medinsky believes that Stalin statues should be erected in places where the majority of local people are in favor.

    • born 7 May 1840 and died 6 November 1893
    • was a Russian composer of the Romantic period
    • was the first Russian composer whose music would make a lasting impression internationally
    • wrote some of the most popular concert and theatrical music including the ballets Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, the 1812 Overture, his First Piano Concerto, Violin Concerto, several symphonies, and the opera Eugene Onegin
    • was educated for a career as a civil servant
    • he entered the nascent Saint Petersburg Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1865
    • While his music has remained popular among audiences, critical opinions were initially mixed
    •  Some Russians did not feel it was sufficiently representative of native musical values and expressed suspicion that Europeans accepted the music for its Western elements. In an apparent reinforcement of the latter claim, some Europeans lauded Tchaikovsky for offering music more substantive than base exoticism and said he transcended stereotypes of Russian classical music
    • Others dismissed Tchaikovsky's music as "lacking in elevated thought" and derided its formal workings as deficient because they did not stringently follow Western principles

    Дмитрий Дмитриевич Шостакович 

    • born 25 September 1906 and died 9 August 1975
    • was a Soviet-era Russian composer and pianist
    • regarded as one of the major composers of the 20th century and one of its most popular composers
    • Shostakovich combined a variety of different musical techniques into his works
    • His music is characterized by sharp contrasts, elements of the grotesque, and ambivalent tonality
    • he was also heavily influenced by the neoclassical style pioneered by Igor Stravinsky.
    • Shostakovich's orchestral works include 15 symphonies and six concerti
    •  Other works include three operas, three ballets, several song cycles, and a substantial quantity of music for theatre and film
    Here is one of the examples of his music for film - from The First Echelon -"Waltz No. 2" 

    His best known piece is a Leningrad Symphony (Symphony #7) dedicated to the city and its' people and their bravery and  steadfastness during the Siege of Leningrad

    • leads the rock band DDT, which he founded with Vladimir Sigachyov in 1980
    • best known for his distinctive gravelly voice
    •  lyrics detail aspects of Russian life with a wry, humanistic sense of humor
    • famous for opposing pop music culture (especially playback performances) for many years
    •  often accredited with being the greatest songwriter in present-day Russia
    • was a member of Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights

    • born January 26, 1960, in Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast)
    • Russian journalist, news presenter, TV producer and author of many documentary TV shows
    • known for his studio work and productions for the NTV (of which he was Producer General between 1997 and 1999)
    • from December 3, 2004, until December 20, 2007, he was an editor-in-chief of Russky Newsweek, Russian edition of Newsweek
    • from 2012 until 2018, was a member of Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights
    • as the author and narrator of the daily culture news TV show Namedni on NTV, produced the line of popular history TV documentaries which he narrated and hosted on-site of almost each event portrayed
    • the series achieved great success and were repeatedly broadcast for years after premiere
    • in February 2018,created a YouTube channel named Parfenon, where he publishes his documentaries and runs a weekly blog on "what has happened [to Parfyonov] during the week, what [he] saw, and what [he] thought about" as written in his channel's description
